Why is my dog so weird?

OK so i have this dog. He's 8 yrs old and quite obese. He's more active in his sleep than he is awake. he'll sit there and move his paws like hes running and twitch and stuff and he snores like an obese man-pig with breathing problems. Is this normal or is my obese man pig dog just one of a kind!?
