Does anybody here know about skin diseases in miniature poodles?

I am considering adopting a miniature poodle from a local no-kill shelter. She's very malnourished and she's an old dog - all of this is fine and I'm financially prepared for it - but she appears to have skin problems. It's not ringworm or flea-related...I know those problems on sight. Her skin is not crusty or smelly or covered in sores. It's just a sort of general inflammation. The shelter is so strapped for cash right now that it won't do any diagnostics on adult dogs except heartworm before adopting them out, so I won't know what it is until I take her to the vet myself. I'm probably going to adopt her anyway, but I'm just curious if there are any poodle lovers out in Yahooland who know what I might be looking at, here. Thanks in advance!

Why is my kitten suddenly withdrawn/moody?

I may be answering my own question but I just wanted to get others advice who have more experience with kittens then myself. There are some foggers that do use a residual insecticide, but I wouldn't want to have it all over everything (the pyrethrin totally dissipates after a few hours). With the floor aerosol flea product you are applying to the floor itself, they will contain the insecticide for the adults and an IGR for the immature. To correct some mis information given, the eggs are not half the battle..they hatch into a maggot like larvae, not a biting flea. Any of the flea treatment products with the IGR will kill the eggs along with keeping the larvae from turning into the biting adult flea. It is the pupa stage that the flea emerges from and at times the flea numbers reappearing can look worse than the original infestation. If the fleas did come from the puppy, you do not to do anything to treat for fleas, for the most part people are too clean for an infestation to get started...if by chance you have stray animals living around the house or yard, that could be where the flea problem is coming from, but once again without an inside host, the fleas will not populate...if an animal has access under the house, that could be where the infestation is and some are finding their way inside.

My dog is randomly barking at me, why?

I'd try to keep the shampoo out of the wound as much as possible -- it would definitely sting and burn. You may have better luck trying a product like Advantage, Frontline or Pet Armor. They all work well; Pet Armor is cheapest and is the generic form of Frontline. I use it, works great and is endorsed by the national humane society. I buy it at Walmart. Watch the wound for swelling, excessive redness around the edges of the wound and drainage that is yellow/green, looks like pus or smells bad. All of those indicate infection. Trimming her claws will help prevent her from injuring herself. Flea combing is also helpful. Be sure to have a cup of water with a little dish soap in it nearby so you can drown the litter boogers! If she's got a bad infestation, chances are there are flea eggs in your carpeting. There are various sprays you can buy for that. Good luck!

my tonsils have been swollen since early march. I was diagnosed with strep throat and given antibiotics and it cleared up within a few days. A couple days after that my tonsils switched from decreasing in size to once again swelling. They have been constantly swollen to this day so big they are both almost touching my uvula.My doctors keep saying I dont need surgery but its to the point where i snore constantly when i sleep, my nose is always stuffy, i cant breathe from my nose and i have sore throats almost every day. I have 2002 Isuzu Axiom. I had no major problems with my car since I bought it over 4 yrs ago. I live in Arizona and we had a really cold winter this year and that's when it started. I would go out in the morning and it would take forever to start. But just in the mornings now it's anytime of the day. My husband got it diagnosed at Pet Boys and they said it's the Ignition going out but only the dealer can fix it. I called the dealer and they gave me a quote of about 300 hundred dollars but told me it could be more because that was just a quote. I just don't think that's the problem because if I turn the A.C on in my car and let it run for about 6 to ten minutes without trying to start it. It will start right up with no problems. And most of the times through out the day it will start right up might have to turn A.C on for a few minutes but once I do it's fine. I don't want to pay for something it isn't cause I just can't afford it. I also know most quotes are always higher. Will take all answers into consideration. Thank You

My dog is 8 years old and is not fixed. She has sores all over her body and is losing her hair on her chest and lower back and butt. her nipples are bigger than what they are suppose to be and her ear is infected. my poor dog is miserable. i have given her baths and flea products but she has gotten worse by the day. I have been plagued with an invisible biting bug in my bed for 6 months now. How do I get rid of no see ums?

Since January, I have been battling bug bites while in bed. They're small, red, itchy bumps and we can never see the bugs! My fiance gets bit too but not nearly as much as I do. We thought they were fleas at first and have done everything we know to get rid of fleas. Bombs,sprays, powders, vacuuming, got the dog and cat on frontline. Yet, every time we take the dog go the vet or groomer they see no fleas. The exterminator when he came out, saw no sign of fleas or bed bugs. No sign of anything! HELP!We are at our wits end and I fear sleeping in my own bed because they feed on me at night. The only thing that has really helped is sleeping with Avon Skin So Soft on, they don't seem to bite as much when I'm covered in Skin So Soft.

I appear to have bug bites when i wake yet my wife doesnt ?

Last Friday I was bit by a Mosquito. Not really thinking about it a few days passed and My angles began to itch... with that being said it seems that my hands , elbows , and ankles seem to have several bites on them more and tends to show when i wake! We have no signs of bed bugs and my wife has not been bitten , and i clean 2-3 times a week (vacuuming/ dusting/laundry). We have had a cat adopted now since march.. with front line and hes a indoor cat only so I dont think its fleas either but i could be wrong? I just know Im loosing my mind here because I had scabies once be4 so i know what it looks and feel like this is totally different and only itches a short period of time and dissipates threw out the day.. i did notice if I break skin a clear oil (not a lot ) secretes. And the bites dont appear to be bumpy just slight red spots like a pimple under developed .... are these at all bug bites? can anyone help ? or describe something similar.. again i find it oddly strange I'm the only one in my house experiencing this ? could it be poison ivy idk ? it might as well just be spreading from scratching the area and oils on my skin... idk the doctor gave me prednazone and benadryl

I've got this little red bites all over. They're very itchy. I've done some research to try to figure out if they are from fleas, or bedbugs or something else all together. I put a picture of some of the bites up, the quality isn't good but its the best I can do. I do NOT have carpet in my room and my mattress is brand new. We just got it a few months ago. Hi, I'm a 15 year old girl in desperate need of guidance. Here's the story: So ever since I can remember my father always said 'smoking ciggerets is bad', which they are. He even said that they should be illegal, which they should. And then recently we were on a family vacation and he would randomly be gone for a long time, which concerned me. And what put me in shock was one night he was snoring so I went to search through his things to find his extra earplugs, while instead I found a lighter. I tried not to panic, but I had to know the truth. I did come home eventually from the trip, with worrisome thoughts racking my mind. And one day I happened to be alone, when all the sudden I felt the urge to search. So I did, starting with the top drawer of his dresser... I pushed back the socks to see a small white box. My ferret is scratching her cut?

I have a 4 year old ferret. Very recently, my boyfriend noticed that she was scratching herself more than usual. When he went to check it, he found a cut that was scabbed over which she continued to pick at. My immediate assumption was that she might have fleas. Okay, so today I was at band practice and suddenly my arm started itching like crazy and i looked at it and all these light brown bugs were crawling on it and on my clothes! The solution that lasted the longer for me was to use the flea bombs first then I used a carpet treatment that is a powder you sprinkle on the carpet. Also important to use flea treatment for your Cats just before you do this or the fleas just jump off the cats and hide in your carpets until the flea shampoo wears off. Advantage or Frontline seems to work the best. It is a small tube of liquid that you apply between their shoulder blades and works at least 3 month. If your husband did bring them home you could be lucky and doing all these might cure the problem permanently. Especially if your cats are inside only cats.

So i got a kitten from neglected household(smelled like urine, super dirty, fleas, etc) at the time the kitten was weened and ready to be taken so i gave him to my mom. She treats this cat (whos a year now) like a king- house is always super clean, he has all his shots, flea meds, good food, alot of toys, she gives him constant attension and plays with him until hes tired with his cat toys. about 6-7 months he started biting(hard) and scratching not only people that come over but people that live in the house(including my mom). Nothing in the house has changed no new pets, no moved furniture, we have cat toys and cat posts so he has height. Everyone is always gentle with him. my mom has a loving dog who the cat has gotten along with since the day hes came home. he just gets in a mood to attack when he feels like it terrorizing my mom and i feel bad for her lol. When he was young we made sure to keep our toys and hands separate so he didnt attack and confuse the two. There are no animal smells on me when i come over. He seems healthy to me from watching him over time. Is this just a personality or ? Any ideas??

Should i have a tonsillectomy?

my tonsils have been swollen since early march. I was diagnosed with strep throat and given antibiotics and it cleared up within a few days. A couple days after that my tonsils switched from decreasing in size to once again swelling. They have been constantly swollen to this day so big they are both almost touching my uvula.My doctors keep saying I dont need surgery but its to the point where i snore constantly when i sleep, my nose is always stuffy, i cant breathe from my nose and i have sore throats almost every day. However, I haven't had a case of strep throat since my one is march, therefor they believe I shouldnt have them out. First pair of pointe shoes!! bad fitting!!! What should I do?

i have not yet started pointe but i have been doing ballet for a long time. my feet are very narrow. my first two toes are the same length and the rest are tapered. i have long toes, and bunions (where the toe joint is more prominent). my dance teacher recommended me to get Bloch heritage pointe shoes because they're good for beginners. They have a v shaped vamp, which should work because my toes are long and narrow. But when I was fitted I preferred the feel of the Bloch Axiom shoes with a u shaped vamp. I didn't really know how they should fit at all. the fitter asked me which i could feel the floor with more and i could feel it a lot in the Axiom shoes, whereas only slightly in the Heritage shoes. now when i am wearing them on flat foot i can feel the tips of my toes on the platform, almost like they are curling inside. I'm going to get them checked out by my teacher, but the fitter isn't very pleasant.

Use a flea comb for the mother at least, dip it in soapy warm water to kill the fleas. Comb her maybe twice a day. If you are very gentle you could probably comb the kittens as well, but not as much. I think maybe you need to spray your room with a flea or bug killer, just to be safe. Fleas are so hard to get rid of once they are in your house. At any store they have different stuff that you can use safely with pets and that are decided to kill any bugs. Just make sure your new kitten is not in the room when you do use the product. If you think they are in your bed, use a powder then sweep it off. And it also wouldn't hurt to check your kitty cat again to make sure all his fleas are gone. Maybe give him a bath with a flea shampoo...they also have pills that are safe to take with front line that will kill all fleas and eggs on your kitty cats. good luck!

if the baby wants to sleep near you, its not a bad thing. its bonding, and comforting to him. let him do it. you and him will sleep better. as he gets older(and wakes less frequent) you can move him after he falls asleep,(it may take a few times til it really works). and eventually once hes used to waking up in his bed, he will be used to falling asleep in it too. this happened more with my first, and a more mild case with my second. it may not be ideal, but you have to start with what baby wants, and slowly transform that into what works for you.

My dad has had this chronic cough for about 8 months now. He is about 70 pounds overweight, drinks too much beer, smokes, and eats awfully. I know you can't give me a diagnosis, but what do you think this cough could indicate? I'm looking to print some things out for him to read so that it will motivate him to lose weight, stop smoking and drinking so much and eat better. I know he has high cholesteral, he snores very loudly and his feet hurt a lot. Discoloration on dogs legs..?

I have a dog that is now 2 years old. And we lived in an area infested with cats and fleas, we moved about a month ago to another flea free home. He is still recovering all the flea bites, he had really bad bites and was really infest with fleas but now his skin looks discolored, like black/burnt color. It is on his back side near the upper thighs and on his private parts. The skin itself is discolored, when I pass my hand to see if it is bruised or if it hurts him but it does not bug him at all. Can anyone suggest what it is and will that discoloration go away with time? I have aloe vera can I keep adding that, if that will help? When he had a lot of them he was soo itchy that he pulled his hairs out just to scratch himself. Now his hairs are growing back nicely. My husband began having leg pain, then severe shaking like chills, low grade fever if any, what could this be?

He has had malaria before so said it felt like a relapse except for the severe leg pain that started at his right calf and moved into his groin area. Alright, so my neighbor gave me this kitten. I took her because I saw her brother laying dead in his carport. Most likely from the worms that were crawling out of him. Me and my fiancé have been together going on 3 years. Every other aspect of our relationship is going fine expect for in the bedroom. I don't think it will be your mum though, even if you didbt get on, would she really want to frighten a child? frontline is the best product i've used and i get it from my vet's office. use that instead, and also you can try bathing your cat if he or she will let you. they have plenty of shampoos for cats. if you don't want to buy the shampoo you could always get some sage, lavender, and mint leaves (all of which are natural flea repellents) and make a tea out of them and use that to bath your cat with. obviously let it cool first before bathing your cat. it works, i use it on my cats in the summer in between frontline applications. good luck!

Is my kitten dying?!?

My cat has been sitting in the same spot for a few hours each day. She's usually very frisky and loves to sun bathe, but now she stays out of the sun and in her little hidey-hole. Her fur has gotten thinner over only the past 4 days! She's also been coughing and sneezing. She tries to throw up here and there, but she only succeeds sometimes. Whenever you pet her she coughs and twitches. She's very sensitive to touch now, and she can barely open her eyes all the way. I tried to get my mom to take her to the vet but she said to wait a week more or so. This has been going on for the past week, perhaps? I'm really worried and she's only 1 and a half years old. She was perfectly healthy before this. We DID put frontline on her (Stuff for ticks and fleas) and she had some sort of allergic reaction.. but this was nearly 3 weeks ago. All she did was run around the house non-stop for a few days and could never get comfortable and never could rest and sit down. Is my cat okay? Should I try to force my mom to take her to the vet again?! I'm really worried for her and I thought I was sitting with her on her last night 2 days ago.. I can't let her die at 1 and a half years old, so I don't know what I should do. I'm so afraid for her. What should I do?

I got this product at wall-mart last night and treated my cat with it. She goes outside quite often. About a month ago my husband spread tick granduals on the yard and this helped alot keeping the ticks off the cat and the kids. I got this product just to give an extra boost for the tick and flea protection. She is a great mouser but I was afraid of her getting parasites from mice and birds she kills outside, so I put a collar with a bell on it around her neck. I don't want to keep her in the house all the time. She refuses to use a litter box unless it is raining or super-cold outside. She goes outside like a dog would. Fine with me, keeps the house from smelling. My question is does this product (hartz ultragaurd pro for cats) work well? Is there something better? My elderly Dad lives by himself and cherishes the pets he has but they have created a bad situation. He had adopted my brothers kids one of who left a cat in a room plus mountains of clothes. Then on top of that there was flooding so he brought in outside cats to keep them safe and they were in the room for about a month. Now there is an unbelievable amount of fleas. He is on a fixed income. I am trying my best to kill them but it is hard to be in the room. Two minutes and you are covered in fleas. My kitten is sick! HELPPP!?

About a month and a half ago, two very adorable kittens showed up on my doorstep. They couldn't have been more than a few weeks old. We named them Lois and Clark(one is a boy, one is a girl). Lois, who is normally very energetic and always exploring(hence their names), has been extremely sick for the past couple of days. She is lethargic, and she pretty much refuses to move unless you move her yourself. For example, I sat her on her bed, and she just stood there, falling asleep. I laid her down, and she would not move at all, not even when little Clark came to play. She has a very warm and dry nose, but her feet are relatively cool. She is constantly purring, but from time to time she will sneeze. I am extremely worried about her. She is an outside cat, so ticks are probable(I found one on her just a few minutes ago, but it was small), and they have probably had fleas, too.(I just gave them a bath the other day) Any help would be amazing.

Boyfriends annoying sleep habits ?

I am dating this guy who has the worse sleeping habits that I can hardly tolerate it. He has this awful lip smacking that almost sounds like a dog. It can get very loud sometimes to- and lately to top it off he has been moving a lot in his sleep and talking gibberish in his sleep. Ive been dealing with it cuz I know it's not his fault.......but I finally kicked him out of my bed because it was interrupting my own sleep and I was getting to the point where I had to shove him to tell him to turn on his side since it seems to help. either way I'd take snoring anyday- just wondering if anyone has experienced this and if they were able to deal with it.

I am taking this differential equations/linear algebra class and I just do not understand the concept of a vector space. The stuff with the 10 axioms and crap. This activity may relate to a past resident of the house, do you know the history of the house. Sometimes people and even animals don't know they have passed over and will just keep going about their day as normal, mostly reenacting the last few hours of their lives, this is why it is repetitive activity. Talk to your neighbors and see if there is some history there. A person may not have had to pass in the house as such but may have lived there and passed elsewhere. If you are uncomfortable with this get someone in that does house clearing. This can be an uncomfortable experience as you are not sure who it is and you didn't know them in life. In the meantime reciting the lords prayer puts up a block for any unwelcome spirits so try that. Hope you find a quick solution to this so you can relax and feel safe in your own home.

Ableton Live 8 Users Help?

I have used FL Studio 9 and Reason 5 to produce music, well mess around anyway. So basically I just bought Ableton Live 8 because I heard ProTools9 was for mastering. I am using a Dell Inspiron 15R. Please give me the pro's and con's of using a mac and pc with ableton live. Many music producers I'm interested in (Deadmau5, Skrillex, etc.) use a mac. Also I just bought an M-Audio Axiom 25 25-Key, 2nd Gen. USB MIDI Controller. Do I need an audio interface? I was thinking about the M-Audio Fast Track Pro 4x4 Mobile USB Audio/MIDI Interface with Preamps but I'm not sure what I'd use it for. Someone explain what the audio interface is used for? I have a clue but I'm still learning. What kind of soundcard do you recommend? I am serious about music production. I'm talking about electro/prog house/dubstep. Please let me know what equipment, in your opinion, is decent for making electro/prog house/dubstep.

Anyone plays Sims 3 and their sim SNORES???!!!!?

ok i've been playing sims 3 for a loooooong time already, and i've never encounter anything like this before. My sims are a married couple and they have two children, they were all fine until one day the mother suddenly started snoring when she sleeps, and the husband gets "rudely awakened" everytime he sleeps next to her. I tried to put him back into the same bed, but he like immediately gets up and has the rudely awakened moodlet!!!!!!!! what do i do??? i don't want them to sleep in separate beds, is there any way to solve this snoring problem??????? Flea's, how long can they survive without a host?

hi, i recently have been informed that my place of work has had a flea infestation, the cat flea type, and they have ccalled in pest control to fumigate the area. a few members of staff have since complained that their homes have now been infested through carrying the fleas home on there uniform. i, at first thought everyone was jumping (pardon the pun) at the opportunity of a few extra pound in their wages for compensation, as our work ( a major clothing outlet) were paying out on any products or infestation control that staff have had to pay out. i wasnt really concerned myself as i had no bites on my body like some of the others, also i have no animals in the house and had no real reason to concern myself. now it seems my 4 year old daughter has two bites on the ankle, well at least i think thats what they are, she is complaining of an annoying itch shortly after the bumps arrived, she has now a further two on her tummy. hubby got one on the lower leg the following day, however, my other daughter and i seem totally untouched. anyway, the long and short of the story is, i am wondering how long these vermin can survive without an animal to live on??? i have took all the bed clothes off and boil washed them, the only carpet in the house, in my bedroom, i have hoovered. do i need to do anything else??? i havent seen one pysically in front of me and have been looking all over the bed in our room as thats were the bites seem to be occurring. will they die of if there is only a couple??
